Local Weather auditions hosted in Nottingham Arena Conference facilities.
Nottingham Arena; the East Midlands hottest venue, was turned into a TV studio as nervous auditionees tried their hand at becoming the next Michael Fish or Sian Lloyd.
ITV Central transformed the venue’s modern and spacious Bolero Suite into the perfect place to hold auditions for their ‘Weather Idol’ competition.
The flexibility of the Bolero Suite enabled the TV crew to split the space into three very different breakout rooms, offering them the flexibility and choice they required.
Syndicate Three became the holding area for around 30 apprehensive auditionees, all hoping to land their dream job and become part of ITV’s weather team.
The middle space – Syndicate Two, became the last chance saloon for wannabe weather idols to practice their presenting skills in a quiet area before going in front of the three judges.
The natural daylight of the large and open space in Syndicate One was the perfect spot for a mobile TV studio. With an impressive view over Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, this area provided the ideal backdrop for filming.
Isabel Clarke, Head of Regional Affairs at ITV Local said: “We decided to use Nottingham Arena as a venue for the auditions due to the fantastic conference space it offers and the great help we received from the team there in planning the event.
“The Arena also benefits from being right in the centre of Nottingham, making it easily accessible to everyone who wanted to take part.”
Director and Entertainment Reporter Lucy Kite said: “Nottingham Arena is one of the largest and most recognised venues in the region. It lived up to all of our expectations; the facilities were spacious, modern and a perfect blank canvas for our mobile studio!
“What’s more, the Arena staff couldn’t have been more helpful. If they’d have us back, we would certainly consider returning when we hit the road with future projects!”
